The new work by Buyer & Cellar playwright Jonathan Tolins makes its debut at the Bay Street Theater.
Bay Street Theater presents the world premiere of The Forgotten Woman, a new play by Jonathan Tolins ( Buyer & Cellar), beginning May 31. With direction by Noah Himmelstein, performances are set to run through June 19.
The Forgotten Woman follows a talented soprano on the verge of a major operatic career. When a reporter shows up at her hotel room, she is forced to face numerous problems in her life: her marriage, her child and her art. “Will Margaret succeed in mastering her career, men, and her own self-doubt to release the star within?” ask press notes.
Ashlie Atkinson ( Steve, Wolf of Wall Street) leads the cast; she is joined by Darren Goldstein ( The Affair, Limitless), Mark Junek ( The Outs, Viral Beauty), Justin Mark ( Gotham, Last of the Boys) and Robert Stanton ( The Coast of Utopia, Mary Stuart).
The production team includes Tim Mackabee (set designer), David Lander (lighting designer), Jess Goldstein(costume designer), Elisheba Ittoop (sound designer), Andrew Diaz (props), Meg Murphy (hair/wig designer) and Jennifer Kahn (production stage manager). Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.
