Following a London engagement at the National Theatre, five actors are set to bring their Hadestown performances to Broadway. The folk opera's upcoming bow at the Walter Kerr Theatre will star Tony nominee Eva Noblezada, Reeve Carney, Amber Gray, Tony nominee André De Shields, and Patrick Page.
Performances will begin March 22 ahead of an April 17 opening.Noblezada (Miss Saigon) and De Shields (The Full Monty) will take on the roles of Persephone and Hermes, which they played for the first time in the London run. The other three had previously taken the stage in the Anaïs Mitchell piece in earlier incarnations: Page (Saint Joan) as Hades, Gray (The Great Comet) as Persephone, and Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) as Orpheus.
Additional casting will be confirmed at a later date.
Rachel Chavkin directs the new take on the ancient, underworld-set tale. The production features choreography by David Neumann, musical direction by Liam Robinson, orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose, sets by Rachel Hauck, costumes by Michael Krass, lighting design by Bradley King, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.
