STEWART/WHITLEY has an established internship program to help foster the skills of, and nurture aspiring casting directors. We seek candidates throughout the year to join our team in our fast-paced boutique casting office.
Applications are accepted year-round, though interns typically join the office for one of three separate terms: Winter (starting on/about January), Summer (starting on/about May), and Fall starting on/about September). Applicants will only be contacted for interviews in the 3-4 weeks prior to these start times.
We seek smart, pleasant, motivated individuals with terrific organizational, problem-solving skills, and initiative. The ideal candidate wants to learn about all aspects of casting from the ground up and will bring a positive attitude into the office and casting room.
Prior experience in a casting/agency office is REQUIRED–applications without casting/agency experience will NOT be considered. The ability to work with minimal supervision on individual projects is a must. Knowledge of musical theatre, plays, television, and pop culture is an asset. We emphasize hands-on training and are looking for someone who will be a vital member of our team. Actors need not apply.
Responsibilities include preparing audition sessions, contact with actors, agents, managers, and other entertainment professionals, answering phones, various research etc. Interns will also work directly with Associate Casting Directors & Casting Directors to review agent submissions, create idea lists, prepare audition sessions, and assist in the audition room. Interns will be asked to retain certain information for the purpose of ease of transition in the office, and will be asked to demonstrate knowledge of Stewart/Whitley projects and procedures.
With our desire to create internships that are both meaningful and practical, we’ve established a two-tier testing program that every intern must successfully complete. We fully believe that once our interns master the pre-requisite skills detailed in our tests and executed in our overall program, they are far better equipped to impress at future interviews and ultimately, enter the casting workforce.
Internship length is negotiable but is typically 3-4 months long in duration. School credit and/or a small monthly travel stipend will be provided.
